Taking Alberta work, remotely

Alberta WordPress SEO consultant, 31 towns, measured

I'm a remote SEO consultant for Alberta businesses on WordPress. I checked the live map pack in 31 Alberta towns across up to 30 service types each. They don't look alike, and that changes what a business in each one should pay for.

Measured and written by Muhammad Younus, WordPress technical SEO consultant. Map packs pulled 8 September 2026.

Where is local search in Alberta still up for grabs?

Ranked by wide-open and top-heavy packs together, since they're the two kinds a well-built site can realistically enter. The big cities sit at the other end, and they're settled: every Edmonton pack I checked was mature.

TownWide openTop-heavyMatureAverage top review count
Brooks 9 3 5 of 29 70
Whitecourt 7 5 2 of 29 118

Camrose 7 3 1 of 30 147

Cold Lake 3 3 4 of 30 130
// which trades are open most often

Which service types are open in the most towns?

Counted across all 31 towns. If yours is on this list, your town's page will tell you whether it's one of them, and the industry pages show the same numbers trade by trade.

An open pack isn't a promise of calls. It means nobody in it has built up many reviews yet, so the listing that Google finds clearest tends to win the spot. That's where the website matters: a service page that names the town, schema that matches the profile, and a site that loads quickly on a phone. None of that needs you to be in the same city as the person fixing it.

// accountants and bookkeepers

Accountants and bookkeepers: open in 8 towns

Towns where nobody in the accountants and bookkeepers pack had 25 reviews. That ties with concrete and paving as the most common opening in the province. Accountants and bookkeepers on WordPress.

// every town, by region

Find your town, and its own numbers

Calgary region

Calgary's packs are almost all mature. The towns around it range from Airdrie, which isn't much less settled, to Strathmore, the most contested market in the region.

Edmonton region

Edmonton's 28 packs all came back mature. Sherwood Park and St. Albert aren't far behind, while Beaumont and Fort Saskatchewan still have open packs.

Central Alberta

Red Deer is the only central town with measurable monthly searches for SEO help, and the Red Deer SEO page has its packs. Camrose, Drumheller and Wetaskiwin are the opposite: they're some of the most open towns in the province.

Southern Alberta

Lethbridge is mature, Medicine Hat is contested, and Brooks is the most open town I've measured anywhere. The Lethbridge SEO page breaks its mature packs down by trade.

Northern Alberta

Grande Prairie SEO starts from a settled market, with 15 of its 29 packs mature. Whitecourt and Cold Lake aren't nearly as crowded: 2 and 4 mature packs.

// what the work is

What does a remote SEO consultant do for an Alberta site?

Three things, in this order. None of them needs me in the same city as you, because every one of them happens in your site's code and your own Search Console.

i.

Fix the site behind the profile

Indexing, speed on phones, schema and service pages that name the town. The pack itself runs on your Google Business Profile and reviews, which I don't write or buy, but I make the website agree with the profile. The pages for each trade show what that means in your vertical.

ii.

Show numbers, not promises

Here's one: an Edmonton tile firm holds 1.1 on its own name (Search Console, pulled 30 August 2026). See the Edmonton page, or all eight case studies.

iii.

One person, start to finish

The person who finds the problem is the one who'll fix it. Here's how I diagnose a site before anything changes.

// services

What I fix for Alberta WordPress sites

The six jobs Alberta businesses book most often. Each one is a fixed scope on Upwork, and every technical SEO service is listed on its own page.

/auditTechnical SEO auditNot sure what's wrong? A crawl and a Search Console baseline, with every fault ranked by the clicks it costs. /localLocal SEO for WordPressService and town pages, LocalBusiness markup and a website that agrees with your Business Profile. /indexIndexing and crawl fixesService pages Google found and left out, traced to the setting or template behind them. /speedCore Web VitalsThe phone your customers use, measured on field data, with page builder weight cut back. /storeWooCommerce SEOCategory pages that rank, product schema that validates and filter URLs kept out of the crawl. /moveMigration and redesign SEOEvery old URL mapped with a 301 before launch, so a new site doesn't reset your rankings.
// proof - from the case studies

What has the work done on live WordPress sites?

Three results from the published case studies, each measured in the client's own Search Console. They aren't Alberta businesses, and I won't dress them up as local; they show what the same fixes do.

// who does the work

Your Alberta SEO consultant, Muhammad Younus

I've worked on WordPress sites for 8+ years, and I'm Top Rated Plus on Upwork with a 100% Job Success Score. I'm based in Karachi and work remotely on Mountain Time hours, so calls land in your working day. I don't have an Alberta office and won't pretend to.

What I do have is the pack study on this page, which I ran and wrote myself, and a way of working that starts from your data: read-only Search Console access first, a written scope and a fixed price on Upwork second, and fixes after that. More about how I work.

// alberta questions

Before you book an Alberta SEO consultant

Do you work with businesses anywhere in Alberta?

Yes. Everything runs remotely over Zoom, Google Meet or async messages, so a business in Whitecourt gets the same process as one in Calgary.

Why is there a page for each town?

Because the towns don't look alike. Brooks has nine wide-open packs and Edmonton has none. Each page shows its own pack data, so you can see what your market needs before paying anyone.

How were the local packs measured?

I searched each service with the town name in Google's local results on 8 September 2026 and recorded the listings and their review counts. Review counts change daily, so treat the tables as a snapshot.

Is SEO still worth it for an Alberta business in 2026?

Yes, if the market isn't settled. In 61 of the 911 packs I measured, nobody had 25 reviews yet, and a clear website is often what separates the listings there. AI answers haven't changed that: they quote pages search engines can already crawl and trust, which is the same technical work.

Do you only work with Alberta businesses?

No. I'm a WordPress SEO consultant first, and Alberta is where I measured the packs. The same remote process runs for the clients in my case studies across Canada, the US, the UK and Jamaica.

How much does SEO cost in Alberta?

Prices are in US dollars. The audit is $149 and the audit with every fix is $999. Month to month is $299 for maintenance or $750 for growth, with no minimum term. All of it is booked and paid on Upwork.

// next step - book a call on Upwork

Alberta site not ranking? Let's find out why.

Book a call on Upwork with your URL and read-only Search Console access. You'll get the findings ranked by what they're costing you, usually within a day, and you won't be billed outside Upwork.
