Mortgage broker SEO for WordPress sites
Mortgage broker SEO gets a brokerage's own site found for the numbers borrowers check before they call: calculator, renewal and rate searches, plus mortgage broker and your town, on pages that show the brokerage's licensed name as RECA requires. I do it on WordPress, and I make those pages readable to Google.

Mortgage broker SEO in the map pack: why do city and small-town packs need different plans?
I measured map packs for 30 verticals in 31 Alberta towns on 8 September 2026. Brokers came 11th by depth, yet the #1 broker in Calgary has 1,900 reviews, and in Edmonton 754.
Camrose and Strathmore are wide open, and in 16 towns the top listing isn't the most-reviewed broker (Cochrane: 23 reviews against 202). In a city, your site has to win the searches the pack leaves; in a small town, your profile can lead.
Keyword research for brokers: what do borrowers search before they pick one?
Monthly searches in Canada, Keywords Everywhere, 26 September 2026. The keyword list I start from is the three below, then "mortgage broker" with each town you serve.
Calculator searches
A page that's only a vendor widget gives Google almost nothing to read. It'll need written inputs and a worked example.
Renewal questions
Every term ends, so someone's always renewing. A dated page that AI answers can quote can keep catching it.
Rate comparisons
A dated table with qualifiers can rank. A promise of always-lower rates breaks RECA's guidelines.
Can Google read your calculator?
Send me the URL and I'll show you what Google sees.
Which WordPress fixes does a mortgage broker website need first?
Every brokerage job starts with URL Inspection on the calculator and rate pages, to see what Google actually renders, then a crawl for pages that compete for the same search. What each fixed-scope service means on a mortgage site:
Where does a mortgage site differ from other small-business sites?
Calculator to application, tracked
The calculator hands a borrower to the application with your brokerage named, and I track that click, so a third-party form can't hide which page earned the lead.
FinancialService, not a broker type
The brokerage is a FinancialService, loan explainers carry MortgageLoan, each associate's a Person, and rates stay out unless they're kept current.
The brokerage's name on every page
Under RECA's rules a brokerage deals only in its licensed name, shown clearly in its advertising, and the guidelines apply that to every page of a website.
Every figure dated
Rates go stale fast, so each one's typed in with an 'as of' date, not loaded by a script that slows the page.
What do RECA's rules mean for your mortgage website?
My reading of RECA's Rules and Advertising Guidelines. It isn't legal advice.
Raised with you before anything's published
- 'No cost to you' lines, against your fee disclosure (s. 65(c))
- Performance guarantees, which only the brokerage may offer
- Review stars in markup. Google won't show them for reviews you control
Written into every mortgage page
- The brokerage name clearly shown on every page
- Licensed names only: the brokerage's (s. 65(a)) and the associate's own (s. 69(a))
- No 'always lower' rates: "Nobody can claim lower rates 100% of the time"

No mortgage broker is in my case studies, and I won't pretend otherwise. The nearest is an intake form that qualifies leads before anyone replies.

Book a call on UpworkIn which 17 Alberta towns is the broker pack still unsettled?
In Camrose and Strathmore nobody has more than 12 reviews. In High River, Wetaskiwin and Whitecourt, one broker has 109 to 250 and the pack median's 16 or lower.
Brooks shows as top heavy too, but its #1 listing is an Ontario broker picked up on the town's name, so I don't count it as an Alberta market signal.

Mortgage broker SEO questions, answered
Is mortgage broker SEO different from ordinary SEO?
The basics match, but three things don't: calculators that can render empty to Google, rates that go stale fast, and RECA's rules on licensed names and rate claims. I check all three before anything else.
Does a mortgage calculator help my website rank?
Only if Google can read the page around it: inputs, a worked example and assumptions in HTML. URL Inspection shows what it's getting.
Can I show mortgage rates on my website in Alberta?
Yes, if they're accurate, qualified and defensible with facts, per RECA's guidelines, and never 'always lower'. I'd date each one too.
What keywords should a mortgage broker target?
The numbers borrowers check first: calculator, renewal and rate searches, then 'mortgage broker' plus your town. One page each, so they don't compete.
Should I use the website my franchise network gives me?
It's a start, but text other associates publish word for word gives Google no reason to pick yours. I'd rewrite your town and renewal pages first.
Is SEO or Google Ads better for a mortgage broker?
Often both. A click on 'mortgage broker calgary' costs about C$6.75 (Keywords Everywhere). Ads buy clicks now; renewal pages can keep earning with no click fee.
How long does mortgage broker SEO take?
Give on-page fixes four to eight weeks before a first honest review, since each changed page needs a recrawl. The map pack moves slower, and I won't put a date on it. Renewal and calculator pages sit outside the pack, so they're where I'd look for the first movement.
Do listings and links help a mortgage broker?
Listings do: the brokerage's licensed name, address and phone the same everywhere it's listed. Links are worth having from the realtors, builders and community groups you already work with. Google counts buying them for ranking as link spam, so I don't.
