HVAC SEO for WordPress sites
HVAC SEO is the work that makes a furnace, heat pump or air conditioning company's site the answer Google picks for your systems and towns, in the map pack and below it. I do it on WordPress. HVAC is the deepest map pack in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer, so a review race isn't the plan. I fix the pages you can still win: no-heat calls, replacements and maintenance plans.
By Muhammad Younus · Updated
Why is the HVAC pack the hardest in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer?
On 8 September 2026 I pulled Google's map pack for 30 verticals in 31 Alberta towns. HVAC was the deepest in Calgary, Edmonton and Red Deer: pack medians of 4,400, 3,200 and 768 reviews. Next door in Sherwood Park, the HVAC pack median is 554 and the most-reviewed listing has 4,900.
A new Calgary operator shouldn't plan around that. Across the Calgary region's nine towns, the median pack is 41 reviews and the median #1 holds 461. In 16 of 31 towns, #1 isn't the most-reviewed listing, so the site still counts.
Which furnace searches sit outside the review race?
Figures from Keywords Everywhere, Canada, 26 September 2026.
The no-heat call
Edmonton's version costs C$17.24 a click. At minus 30 the page needs a number that dials on tap.
The maintenance plan
That January peak is the highest I pulled for the trade. A plan deserves a sign-up page, not a footer link.
The replacement quote
They're comparing: show the systems you install, your published financing and who holds the gas ticket.
Which of the three does your site answer?

What do I fix on an HVAC company's WordPress site?
HVAC SEO services with a fixed scope, timed for January, when the phone rings hardest.
How does HVAC SEO work for a furnace company?
Business Profile, then no heat, a new system or a plan
Primary category for most of your revenue, as few others as Google's guidelines allow, a service area where your trucks go, and hours you'll really answer. On the site: tap-to-call for no heat, a quote form beside the financing for replacements, a sign-up for plans. One button can't serve all three, and each path's tracked as its own GA4 key event.
A page per system, and one dated rebate page
System plus place: furnace repair calgary, duct cleaning calgary and heat pump calgary each get a page. "heat pump rebate alberta" hit 590 searches in January 2026, yet the federal grant closed to new applicants in February 2024. One dated page beats five stale ones, and seasonal URLs stay put all year.
The furnace sale starts online
Alberta has banned unsolicited door-to-door sales of furnaces, air conditioners and water heaters since 1 January 2017. The sale now starts on your site, so tickets and plain terms sell. Reviews come from asking every customer with Google's review link after the job, never for a discount (Google's policy).
HVACBusiness, not a generic type
HVACBusiness, a schema.org subtype of HomeAndConstructionBusiness, carries real hours and a Service per system. It's a label and won't rank a page alone, which is why my schema markup consulting starts from the pages. Google says AI Overviews need no special optimization, so systems, towns and financing terms go in plain text.
Tickets, rebates and urgency: what can the page claim?
My reading of Alberta's door-to-door ban, the compulsory trades list and the Competition Bureau on misleading representations, checked 27 September 2026. It isn't legal advice.
Confirmed with you first
- Financing claims. CEIP, repaid on the property tax bill, covers heat pump replacements in participating municipalities only
- Sales that run for months or restart every week, which the Bureau warns against
- 24/7, only if you'll really answer at 3 a.m.
Written into every page I touch
- Gasfitter, refrigeration and sheet metal tickets named: they're compulsory trades in Alberta
- Rebate lines linking the program, like the closed Greener Homes Grant and the date I checked
- Business, owner and technician names that match Local Services ads screening

I haven't published an HVAC case study and won't dress one up. The closest is a fireplace site with HVACBusiness markup from launch day.

HVAC SEO questions, answered
How long does HVAC SEO take?
Work back from January. A changed page needs a recrawl, and Google says crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, so system pages go live by August. The closest site I've published, a fireplace service, averaged position 6.1 on mobile in the 28 days to 12 September, from 728 impressions in all: a small sample. No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.
How do HVAC contractors get more leads from Google?
HVAC contractor SEO that brings calls is mostly four pages: one per system, a maintenance plan sign-up, a dated rebate page and a tap-to-call no-heat page. Have them live by August.
What keywords should an HVAC website target?
System plus place: furnace repair calgary at 1,900 a month, duct cleaning calgary at 1,600, heat pump calgary at 590. Each one's a page.
Are there still furnace or heat pump rebates in Alberta?
The Greener Homes Grant closed to new applicants in February 2024. CEIP finances heat pumps where municipalities take part. Terms change, so date the page and don't promise eligibility.
Is HVAC SEO worth it in Calgary or Edmonton?
Yes, aimed right. Medians of 4,400 and 3,200 make the pack a long game. System pages aren't. A furnace repair click costs C$12.65 in Calgary and C$17.24 in Edmonton, so 100 Edmonton ad clicks cost C$1,724, and a page that earns them doesn't bill per click.
How much does HVAC SEO cost?
My packages are fixed: US$149 for the audit, US$999 for the audit and fixes, or US$299 or US$750 a month. If you've got several branches, you'll get a quote on Upwork.
