Edmonton SEO for a market where nothing is wide open
Edmonton SEO has no soft entry: all 28 local packs I measured came back mature. I'm Muhammad Younus, a remote WordPress technical SEO consultant, and I won't pretend otherwise. What's still open is narrower: specific job queries, WordPress and WooCommerce sites Google can't fully read, and a scope you can check. Audits from $149, fixes from $999, booked on Upwork.

Nothing here is waiting to be taken
I measured 28 Edmonton service categories in the live map pack. Every single one came back mature. Not one contested, not one wide open. That is the only market in the province where I've found that, and it changes what a website can realistically do for you.
What won't work here
The advice that works in a smaller Alberta town does not transfer to this one.
- Waiting for an easy vertical. There isn't one, and I checked all 28
- Out-reviewing the HVAC leaders, where the pack median alone is 3,200
- Buying a retainer to be told the market is competitive, which you already know
- A thin service page, when the pages ahead of you run from 1,473 to 5,498 words
What is still worth improving
Review counts are already substantial across the packs I sampled, so reviews alone may be less useful as a simple differentiator.
- Relevance signals you control: the page, the profile, and the two agreeing
- Being crawlable, renderable and fast, which is worth improving whatever the pack looks like
- Owning specific job queries instead of the category, the way the client below does
- Scope you can check, from someone who names what they won't do
That last point is the one Edmonton owners tell me they cannot get a straight answer on, and it is the whole reason this page lists exclusions before it lists services.
What is position ten costing you in Edmonton?
Bottom of page one is where clicks go to die. The client further down this page sits at 10.3 on tile installation Edmonton with 6,688 impressions and 39 clicks, so this is not a hypothetical.
Use your own Search Console, call volume and average job value here. The keyword figures on this page describe demand for SEO help in Edmonton, not demand for your trade. If one extra job a month doesn't cover the package, don't book it.
Want to know which queries you already have?
The client above was sitting on 6,688 impressions for one query before anyone looked. Yours is the same exercise.
How much does Edmonton SEO cost, and what does the price buy?
Edmonton doesn't have a pricing transparency problem. All nine pages I read on 21 September 2026 publish something, from $120 at one end to $7,500 at the other. What it has is a scope comparison problem, because those two numbers are obviously not buying the same thing and nobody explains which parts differ.
Mine sit at the lower end and the reason is scope, not discounting. I sell scoped consultant work rather than a full agency retainer with services you may not need. There's no account manager, no content calendar, no link building and no monthly report you didn't ask for. If what you actually want is the full retainer, one of the nine above will serve you better than I will, and I'd rather say that here than on the call.
Edmonton SEO services, priced before you book
Every project starts with the same call and the same read-only access. Local and technical SEO on WordPress and WooCommerce: what changes is how far you want it taken. Fixed prices, paid on Upwork.

Most owners don't know, and that's fine
Does this sound familiar?
- "Someone built it years ago and I've lost touch with him"
- "I don't know if it's WordPress, and I can't log in"
- "My web person and my SEO person blame each other"
- "I just know it's slow, and the phone isn't ringing"
Send the URL and I'll tell you
- What it's built on, inside a minute, at no charge
- Whether the search problems are fixable on the site you've got
- If it isn't WordPress and shouldn't move, I'll say that too
- What's a search problem for me, and what's a job for your web person
One person for the search side, start to finish.
Send the URL on Upwork. You'll know where you stand before you spend anything.
Which of the four does your site actually need?
Agencies sell SEO as one thing. It's four, and in Edmonton the distinction matters commercially rather than just technically, because eight of the nine competitor pages I read describe technical work and only one names the tools it does it with. Knowing which of the four you're actually buying is how you compare two quotes that are four thousand dollars apart.
There's a fifth now: being understood and referenced by AI answers, including Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode. Google's own guidance is that this needs no special markup or AI text file, just a crawlable, clear page, which is why GEO and AEO work sits inside the same projects rather than being sold separately.
No AI-search gimmicks either. I don't sell llms.txt as a Google ranking factor, I don't invent GEO schema Google doesn't ask for, and I won't promise that an AI answer will cite you, because nobody controls that.
What does a technical SEO consultant actually do?
Your project will use some of these, not all of them. The audit decides which, and the scope names them before you pay anything.
showing all 20
Not sure which of these your site needs? That is what the audit is for: you get the list, ranked by what each one is costing you, before anything else is agreed.
How does working with an SEO consultant actually run?
Book the call
Send your URL and read-only Search Console access. It takes two minutes, and the call is free.
Get the findings
What's broken, what it's costing in clicks, ranked. If a finding isn't in your own data, it doesn't go in the list.
Approve a fixed scope
A written scope, a date and a price on Upwork. You approve it before anything starts.
Fixes, then measurement
I do the work, one change per page per window, then you and I read the result in your data after four to eight weeks.
What happens in the first week after you hire me?
The call
Twenty to thirty minutes. You show me the site and what's worrying you, I tell you whether there's a real problem to fix.
Access and crawl
Read-only Search Console, then a full crawl of the site. Nothing changes on your site at this stage.
The findings
The written list, ordered by what each issue is costing you, with the screenshot behind every claim.
Scope, or stop
You either approve a fixed scope on Upwork, take the list to your own developer, or walk away. All three are fine.
One Edmonton client, positions not adjectives
This is the page on this site with a real client in the city it's about. The Tile Experts install and repair tile across Edmonton, the figures below are their own Search Console pulled on 30 August 2026, and the row that isn't a win is left in. Everywhere else in Alberta I'd tell you my local evidence is thinner than that.
Want your own queries read like this?
Bring read-only Search Console to the call and we'll go through yours before you've paid anything.
How do you measure results, without taking my word for it?
Search performance figures come from client Search Console data unless stated otherwise. Each has a case study you can read, including the parts that didn't work.
What I measure beyond rankings
These three are what I read on every project, in that order. They tell you whether Google can see the pages, what visitors did after they arrived and whether any of it ended in an enquiry. None of them tells you why a pack moved, which is why the pack table further down is a separate exercise.
The full case studies, numbers and all
Eight projects, each with its own dates, its own Search Console figures and the rows that didn't go to plan left in.
Worth saying plainly: none of these eight is in Edmonton. They're in Pakistan, Canada, the UK, Jamaica and four US states, because that's where the work came from. My Alberta evidence is a tile firm in Edmonton sitting at position 1.1 on its own name, on a site that took 862 clicks last quarter, and my own read of the Edmonton map pack across 28 categories. Technical SEO doesn't change at the border, but you should judge the Alberta claim on the Alberta data, not on a jewellery store in Karachi. This page has that one in full.
GK Jewelers
A redesign cut its clicks to about a fifth of normal in three days. Redirects had it above the old level by 20 June, and it then doubled.
Lux Jewels
Two years and two agencies had produced nothing. She only signed because I offered to refund the lot if it stayed that way.
Bright Pathways ABA
610,963 impressions and 6,330 clicks in a quarter, with the brand holding position 1.1.
Scrap a Vehicle
From roughly 10 clicks a day in June to roughly 70 a day in September.
Areca Homes
117,541 impressions at average position 8.9, feeding villa bookings and enquiries from owners who want theirs managed.
Harmonized Getaways
Reach up 31% quarter on quarter, clicks up 16%, and the click rate down. All three are in the same picture.
Alpenglow Fireplace
Launched 9 August. A 7.42% click rate in the 28 days to 12 September, and the owner reports enquiries already coming in.
Arch and Handle
22 search clicks in a quarter, and two days later a $50,000 to $150,000 commercial enquiry through its qualifying form.
Three promises you can hold me to
On time, or discounted
Every project carries a committed date in the written scope. If I miss it, you get 10% off for every day it's late.
Green vitals, or free fixes
Speed projects ship with Core Web Vitals in the green on mobile. If they aren't, I keep fixing until they are, at no extra cost.
A reply in one business day
You'll never chase me for an update. Every message gets answered within one business day, usually much sooner.
All three sit in the terms, not just on this page. What I won't promise is a ranking position, because that's Google's call and not mine.
A consultant, or one of the agencies above you?
Worth being specific about the choice. When I read the field on 21 September 2026, eight of the ten results for Edmonton SEO were agencies, most with substantial pages and published packages. This is not a market where the alternative to a consultant is a bad agency. It is a market where the alternative is a good one, and the difference is what you are buying rather than how well it is done.
What an agency retainer usually includes
- A bundle: content, links, reporting, account management, often ads
- A monthly commitment whether this month needs the work or not
- Several people, which is why it costs what it costs
- Breadth, which is useful if you want all of it
What a scoped consultant is instead
- One layer done properly: the technical and on-page work, in WordPress
- A fixed scope with an end, not a renewing retainer
- The person who finds the problem is the one who fixes it
- Narrow, which is the wrong choice if you wanted the bundle
Renting enquiries, or owning the pipe?
Some Edmonton trades buy their work from lead sellers, and in a market this settled the pitch lands harder because the map is difficult. What a lead costs varies by trade and I have no measured figure for Edmonton, so ask two sellers for their rate. What doesn't vary is the shape: you pay per enquiry, forever, and the price is theirs to set.
Buying leads from someone else's site
- You pay per lead, forever, and the price is theirs to raise
- Some sellers send the same enquiry to several businesses, depending on the deal
- You build no asset. Stop paying and the calls stop that day
- The customer's first impression belongs to their brand
Your own site doing the same job
- Enquiries arrive directly, with no cut taken
- They come from Google, and a site can surface in AI answers where its information is eligible
- The asset is yours, and it can keep earning after the invoice, though rankings and demand move
- Your name is on the first impression
Being honest about the arithmetic here: with the middle business in a typical pack on about 250 reviews and HVAC at 3,200, owning the map in Edmonton is a multi-year project for most businesses and buying leads may be the right call while you build. What your own site can do sooner is own the specific job queries, the way the tile client above owns grout cleaning Edmonton at 2.5. That's a smaller claim than ranking for Edmonton SEO and it's the one I can actually stand behind.
Stop renting. Start owning.
Book the call, and we'll work out whether your site can carry it.
No shopfront? Your Business Profile still matters
Half the trades I work with have no address the public can visit. In Edmonton that matters because the profile is doing work against packs where the median business already holds 250 reviews, and a misconfigured service area business is competing with one hand tied. This section stays short on purpose and links to the full explanation rather than repeating it.
Local SEO gets sold as one service, but Google summarises local results around relevance, distance and popularity, and its detailed guidance calls that third one prominence. Distance is how far you are from whoever is searching, and no setting manufactures it. Prominence is yours to earn and I won't fake any part of it. Relevance is where most of the buyable work sits. The full explanation is on the Local SEO page, so this one stays short.
Setup and optimisation is included in the audit and fixes package. What I won't do is post to your profile weekly or manage reviews, because that's your voice, not mine.
Which market does your site actually claim?
Edmonton is big enough that two businesses in the same trade are chasing different customers, which is not true of most Alberta towns. A plumber working Sherwood Park and one working the west end are not competing for the same call. The question is whether that justifies separate pages, and for most businesses the honest answer is fewer than they think. The towns around the city are a different matter, because they run their own packs. I checked all 29 Sherwood Park pack leaders against Edmonton's and only one business leads in both, which is why Sherwood Park SEO, St. Albert and Fort Saskatchewan SEO each get their own page here rather than a line on this one.
Worth building
- It is a market you would actually drive to, not one you would decline in February
- Search Console already shows impressions for that area attached to your service
- You can name something true about working there: parking, permits, the housing stock, a job you finished
- No other page on your site could answer the same query, which is the test this site failed above
Not worth building
- One of 374, because the neighbourhood exists rather than because the work does
- Sherwood Park and St Albert pages from a business that has never crossed Anthony Henday
- A page that competes with your own service page. This site showed the symptom between June and September 2026, when seven other URLs surfaced for Edmonton queries
- Anything you would be embarrassed to show the client who lives there
I'm careful here because the failure mode is visible on this very site. Between 27 June and 26 September 2026, seven other URLs here surfaced for Edmonton SEO queries while this page surfaced once. Add twenty area pages without a real distinction between them and you get the same problem twenty times over, except on your site and with your money.
Edmonton's neighbourhoods, and how many deserve a page
Three hundred and seventy-four named neighbourhoods, more than Calgary's 258. It is also the clearest possible argument against a page for each. In a market where nothing is wide open and the competition writes five-thousand-word service pages, 374 thin area pages would be the worst possible use of the same effort.
What's worth building instead is a page for the work you actually do, not for the estate somebody lives on. A reader searching from any one of these wants the same thing from you, and one good service page answers all of them.
Names from Wikipedia's list of Edmonton neighbourhoods, read on 20 September 2026. Keep only the areas that deserve a distinct page and say something true about each. The rest belong on the service pages, which is where the queries you can win actually live.
Find your trade, then read the advice for it
The 28 trades I checked in the Edmonton pack study, each with the median review count in its pack and how settled it looks. Every row says mature, so read these for the size of the number rather than for the grade.
The spread is the useful part. HVAC sits at a median of 3,200 and towing at 60. Both are graded mature and both are difficult, but they are difficult in completely different ways and the work I'd propose differs accordingly.
Looking for someone local? Check whether they are
Edmonton owners search for an SEO consultant near me and then hire whoever looks closest. Here the results are local, which is unusual: on 21 September 2026 eight of the ten pages ranking for Edmonton SEO were agencies serving this city, and the other two were directories of them. So the proximity instinct is at least pointing somewhere real. It still isn't what decides your ranking.
What proximity doesn't change
- Your Local Pack visibility, where relevance, distance and prominence all count
- Whether Google can index your service pages
- How fast your site loads on a customer's phone
- What your schema says about your business
What to ask instead
- Can they show you client figures with dates, not testimonials alone
- Do they work on WordPress every day, or once a quarter
- Will one person do the work, or will it go to a junior
- Is the scope fixed and the money protected before you pay
Everything here runs over Zoom, Google Meet or messages on Mountain Time, and you watch the same Search Console I do. Edmonton has capable agencies on page one and if you want someone in the room, one of them is a reasonable choice. What I'd ask them is the same thing I'd want asked of me: which of the four kinds of SEO is in this price, and what is not.
Two free tools, and no email to hand over
Both run in your own browser, nothing gets uploaded, and they'll tell you something true about your site before you ever speak to me.
Design is the hard half here. I'll take the other one.
Edmonton has a real agency market, and this section is for the studios inside it rather than against them. Most of the ten results for Edmonton SEO are agencies, most of them with substantial pages and published packages, which means the design and marketing side here is competitive and well served. The technical half is the part that keeps getting subcontracted.
The awkward conversation
- The site launches and the traffic drops, because the URLs changed
- The client asks about Google and nobody on the team owns the answer
- An agency from another province arrives, blames the build, and takes the retainer
- You get the blame for a problem nobody was hired to solve
White label, in your name
- Technical work under your brand, your client never hears my name
- Pre-launch checks, so the redirects and the rankings survive
- Organic growth without buying backlinks, because the fixes are on the site
- A written report you can hand over as your own
- Fixed scope per project. No commission, no client poaching
Run a studio that serves Edmonton?
Run a studio in Edmonton? Send me one client site. If there's nothing worth fixing, I'll tell you that too.
Who this is for, and who it isn't
In a market where the alternative is a page one full of competent agencies, being clear about who I'm wrong for matters more than usual.
Worth booking
- You run a small business site on WordPress or WooCommerce, or you're ready to move to one
- Your trade's row in the trade grid says contested and the visible review gap is relatively smaller
- A redesign or move is coming up, or one already cost you rankings, and you need the search side handled
- You want the person who finds the problem to be the one who fixes it
- You'd rather buy a fixed scope than a monthly retainer
Don't book
- You want Google Business Profile posts, reviews or citations managed
- You want link building or paid ads
- You want a guaranteed position by a date
- Your site is on Wix or Squarespace and staying there
- You're in a pack whose leader holds a thousand reviews and you want the map, not the site
One person, and you can check him
What I actually do
Muhammad Younus, WordPress technical SEO consultant. Based in Karachi, Pakistan, working with Alberta clients remotely on Mountain Time hours. Page first published 11 September 2026, last updated 28 September 2026.
I fix the search side of small business websites: technical and local SEO. Owners and agencies, remotely, on Mountain Time hours for Alberta clients. WordPress and WooCommerce are the platforms I work on, and there's no team here. The person who reads your Search Console is the person who writes the redirects, and the person who answers your messages.
My work is on Upwork, with the review history public, and eight projects are written up here with their figures and their dates, including the results that stalled. More about how I work.
Four minutes of due diligence
- Read a case study and check the dates against the figures
- Open my Upwork profile and read the reviews from clients
- Ask me on the call to show the Search Console screen behind a number
- Start with the audit, and stop there if the findings don't convince you
What you keep when the work ends
The change log
Every fix documented, with what changed and why, so your next developer isn't guessing.
Your own accounts
Hosting, licences, Search Console and analytics stay in your name. I hold nothing hostage.
No dependency on me
Nothing on your site needs me to stay. Remove my access and it keeps working exactly the same.
A measurement date
We agree when to read the result, and I'll tell you plainly if a change did nothing.
Bring three things, and the call is quick
Your URL
That's enough to start. I'll have looked at the site before we speak.
Read-only Search Console
Two minutes to grant, and it's the difference between opinions and evidence. I'll set it up if you don't have it.
What you want more of
Calls, quote forms, orders or bookings. The fixes get prioritised around that, not around a score.
And if you'd rather see the numbers first
Everything measured, in one place. Twenty-eight Edmonton service categories in the live map pack, every one graded mature, none contested and none wide open. In the typical Edmonton pack the middle business holds about 245 reviews, and the average top count across all 28 is 1,581.
The keyword side tells a different story from the map, though the tools don't agree on its size. SEMrush reports 2,900 searches a month for edmonton seo (KD 34) and 2,400 for seo edmonton (KD 35); Ahrefs puts edmonton seo at 1,500 (KD 24). Either way, it and Calgary's are the only two SEO clusters in the province measured in the thousands. The one comparatively softer term is local seo edmonton: 1,300 a month at a SEMrush difficulty of 11, on a results page that still includes two informational blog posts rather than being fully occupied by service pages. I'd treat that as a secondary opening rather than a shortcut, and this page is built for the main commercial intent.
On the call I'll walk you through your row, not all 28 of them.
How settled each pack is, and how far ahead the top sits
The full study. For each trade: the most reviews anyone in that pack had, the median and the grade. Review counts move daily, so treat it as a snapshot.
| Vertical | Top count | Median | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|
| HVAC and furnace | 8,000 | 3,200 | mature |
| Plumbers | 4,500 | 1,200 | mature |
| Veterinary clinics | 2,300 | 946 | mature |
| Insurance brokers | 2,600 | 704 | mature |
| Glass and window | 5,100 | 691 | mature |
| Law firms | 2,100 | 647 | mature |
| Gyms and studios | 830 | 498 | mature |
| Med spas and aesthetics | 1,200 | 417 | mature |
| Accountants and bookkeepers | 1,100 | 357 | mature |
| Mortgage brokers | 754 | 305 | mature |
| Garage doors | 735 | 304 | mature |
| Dentists | 1,400 | 301 | mature |
| Auto repair | 657 | 274 | mature |
| Roofers | 446 | 250 | mature |
| Pest control | 3,900 | 240 | mature |
| Electricians | 959 | 229 | mature |
| Optometrists | 765 | 207 | mature |
| Cleaning services | 409 | 185 | mature |
| Clinics and family medicine | 446 | 180 | mature |
| Real estate | 251 | 172 | mature |
| Water and fire restoration | 477 | 162 | mature |
| Chiropractors and physio | 339 | 158 | mature |
| Security and alarms | 1,900 | 119 | mature |
| Painters | 243 | 99 | mature |
| Concrete and paving | 219 | 96 | mature |
| Landscaping and lawn | 1,900 | 83 | mature |
| IT and managed services | 160 | 75 | mature |
| Towing | 575 | 60 | mature |
Every row reads mature, which is why the grade column is the least useful part of this table in Edmonton. Read the medians instead. HVAC at 3,200 and plumbers at 1,200 are different problems from towing at 60, and the widest gap in the set is landscaping, where one listing holds 1,900 against a pack median of 83.
Who ranks for Edmonton SEO? Capable agencies and two directories
This is the organic ten for edmonton seo as I read it on 21 September 2026: eight agency pages and two directories. By 27 September the mix was seven agency pages, the same two directories and a Facebook page, so the shape holds even as the names shuffle. I read all eight service pages in that 21 September ten end to end, plus one more Edmonton competitor, nine in all. There are no templates here and no thin pages: the shortest is 1,473 words and the longest 5,498. Every one publishes a price. This is a market being competed for properly, and you should know that before you choose anyone, including me.
Where the gaps actually are, from reading rather than from the snippets: one of the nine names WooCommerce, one names the tools it works in, and one states what it will not do. Those three are narrow gaps rather than the open goal a smaller market offers, and they are the honest basis for choosing a narrow scope over a broad one here.
Here's a query ownership problem, and it's mine
I'd rather show you this than describe it. Between 27 June and 26 September 2026, seven other URLs on this site surfaced for Edmonton SEO queries, and this page surfaced once, at position 159. Search Console can list several URLs against one query, and each of these rows is one to three impressions, so this isn't proof of anything on its own. It is a signal worth acting on.
average position 60
average position 127

average position 152
average position 155.7
average position 156
average position 158
average position 159
average position 160
average position 170
None of those positions matter yet. What it suggests is that the intended Edmonton URL has not established clear query ownership, and other URLs are surfacing instead. That is the same pattern most Edmonton businesses have across their own service and location pages, and it's why this page names its own before it charges you to find yours. Traditional Search and AI search need the same underlying clarity here: one intended Edmonton URL, crawlable content, explicit services and reliable source evidence. Google's guidance for AI Overviews and AI Mode asks for that rather than for any AI-specific file or markup.
What fixing it looks like
Edmonton SEO questions, the honest answers
Is it too late to start SEO in Edmonton?
For the map pack in most trades, you are starting behind and I would say so on the call. All 28 categories I measured came back mature, the middle business in a typical pack holds about 250 reviews and HVAC sits at a median of 3,200. For specific job queries it is a completely different answer. The Edmonton client on this page holds 2.5 on grout cleaning Edmonton and 3.4 on tile repair Edmonton, and neither of those required out-reviewing anybody.
Why is your price so much lower than the agencies ranking above you?
Scope, not discounting. Published prices on those pages run from $120 to $7,500 and they are not buying the same thing as each other, let alone as me. I sell scoped consultant work: an audit, or an audit and the fixes, or a month to month plan. No account manager, no content calendar, no link building, no monthly report you did not ask for. If you want the full retainer, several of them do it properly and I do not.
Every Edmonton agency says they do technical SEO. How do I tell them apart?
Ask which tools they work in and what they will not do. Of the nine pages I read, eight describe technical work, one names its tools and one states any exclusion. Those two questions separate the field faster than anything on a sales page, and they work on me too.
What does 28 of 28 mature actually mean for my business?
It means reviews alone may be less useful as a simple differentiator, because the counts are already substantial across every pack I sampled. Local results still combine relevance, distance and prominence, and no single layer acts as the tie-breaker. What it does make worth improving is the part you control: whether Google can crawl and render the site, whether the page answers the specific job, and whether the profile and the site say the same thing.
Local seo edmonton looks easier than the other terms. Should I target that?
As a secondary thing, maybe. On SEMrush's figures it carries 1,300 searches a month at a difficulty of 11 while edmonton seo carries 2,900 at 34, and its results page still includes two informational blog posts rather than only service pages. But the buyer you want is searching the commercial term, and chasing the softer query would pull your page towards general Local SEO advice and away from the work. I would not build the page's identity on it.
You have an Edmonton client. Can I speak to them?
That is between me and them, so no promises, but their figures are on this page rather than a claim about them. The Tile Experts, Search Console pulled 30 August 2026, including the row where they sit at 10.3 on tile installation Edmonton with 6,688 impressions and 39 clicks. That one is not a win and it is left in on purpose.
Does Edmonton need separate pages for each neighbourhood?
Almost certainly not, and Edmonton makes the point better than anywhere. There are 374 named neighbourhoods here, more than Calgary. A page for each would be 374 thin pages competing against a field that writes five-thousand-word service pages. Only areas that deserve a distinct page, with something true to say about each, and the effort goes into the service pages instead.
Why are other pages on your site showing for Edmonton searches?
Fair question, and it's on the page above rather than hidden. Between 27 June and 26 September 2026, seven other URLs on this site surfaced for Edmonton SEO queries, among them my Lethbridge SEO page, the Red Deer page, the Calgary page and the Local SEO service page, while this page surfaced once, at position 159. The positions are far too low to matter, but the signal does: the site's ownership of that query wasn't clear enough. Rebuilding this page is part of fixing it, and it's the same diagnosis I'd give you about your own service pages.
What's the difference between local SEO and regular SEO in Edmonton?
Local SEO is the map pack and the searches with a place in them, where Google weighs relevance, distance and prominence and your Business Profile does much of the work. Regular, or organic, SEO is the blue links underneath, where the page itself has to be crawlable, indexed and the best answer to the query. In Edmonton that difference is practical: all 28 packs are mature, so for most owners the quicker gains are organic job queries, the way the tile client above holds 2.5 on grout cleaning Edmonton.
Can I rank in Edmonton without showing my address?
Yes. A business that goes to its customers can run a Business Profile as a service area business, with the address hidden and the areas it actually covers listed instead. What you can't do is fake an address to get closer to a searcher. The site then has to back the profile up: the same business name, the same services and the same genuine areas, so the two tell Google one story.
How do I know if my current Edmonton SEO company is actually working?
Open your own Search Console and compare the last three months with the three before the work started. Look for three things: more impressions on the queries that describe your jobs, more of your service pages indexed, and more clicks on those pages. Then check whether calls and forms moved with them. If the reports you get show rankings but never those numbers, ask for them. It's your data and you're entitled to read it.
Do you do keyword research and competitor analysis for Edmonton sites?
Competitor analysis, yes: the audit includes a competitor gap against the pages above you. For keyword research I start from the queries your own Search Console already shows, then check demand in SEMrush and Ahrefs, which is how the Edmonton figures on this page were built. I won't sell you a keyword list on its own, because a list nobody acts on doesn't move anything.
How much does SEO cost in Edmonton?
The packages above are the prices, in US dollars: $149 for the audit and $999 for the audit and fixes. Month to month, it's $299 for maintenance or $750 for growth, with no minimum term. You pay on Upwork. You can stop after any milestone.
How long before I see anything change?
Four to eight weeks before either of us judges a change, because that is how long Google takes to recrawl and settle. Some fixes show faster, like pages that were never indexed. In a market this established I would expect specific job queries to move before category queries do.
Can you guarantee a number one ranking?
No, and in Edmonton I would be especially suspicious of anyone who does. What I guarantee is in writing: the date, the vitals, and a reply within one business day.
Will you manage my Google Business Profile and reviews?
No. The profile is central to the map side and I will set it up properly inside the audit and fixes package, but I do not write, buy or manage reviews. That is your voice. I fix the website your profile points at and tell you where the two disagree.
What do you need from me to start?
Your URL and read-only Search Console access, which takes two minutes to grant. If you do not have Search Console I will set it up on the call. WordPress admin comes later, only when you approve fixes.
My site is on Wix, Squarespace or Shopify. Can you help?
Not on Wix or Squarespace. WordPress and WooCommerce are what I work on all day. Worth knowing that of the nine Edmonton pages I read, six mention WordPress and one mentions WooCommerce, so if you run a store the field narrows quickly.
Can you keep my rankings through a redesign?
That is the search side of it, and it is the part I do. Your designer builds the new site. A redesign loses traffic when the URLs change and nobody maps them, so I inventory every page you rank for, map each one to its new address, and watch Search Console for four to eight weeks afterwards.
Do you work with Edmonton agencies as a white label?
Yes. Several of the case studies are work done under someone else's brand. Your client never hears my name and I do not approach them.
What does a technical SEO consultant actually do all day?
Crawl your site, read your Search Console, find what Google cannot reach or will not rank, then fix it in WordPress. It is closer to diagnosis and maintenance than to marketing.
Is SEO still worth it in 2026, with AI answers everywhere?
It changed and it did not die. The same foundational SEO practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. A page still needs to be crawlable, indexed and eligible for Search, and Google does not require special AI markup or files.
How is this different from Google Ads?
Ads stop placing you the day the spend stops. Fixing the site underneath does not charge per click, though it still depends on Google, your competitors and demand. In a map market this settled, ads are often the faster route while the organic work lands, and I will say so.
What happens to my site if we stop working together?
Nothing breaks. You own the site, the licences and the change log, there is no plugin of mine holding it together and no access I keep. Everything is handed over in writing.
To recap, here's what you're getting

- Findings tied to your own Search Console, ranked by what they cost
- The fixes done by the person who found the problem
- Three written guarantees: the date, the vitals, and a reply in one business day
- Everything owned by you, with a change log, and no lock-in
No card and no form. Upwork holds the scope and the money.

Let's find out what your Edmonton site is actually losing.
Send the URL and read-only Search Console. I will come back with the queries you already surface for and are not converting, the way the tile client above was sitting on 6,688 impressions for one of them. Then a fixed scope and a fixed price, or an honest no. Payments stay protected on Upwork either way.
