Privacy policy

This policy explains what information WP Technical SEO Consultant ("I", "me") collects when you use this website or hire me, and how it's handled. The short version: I collect only what's needed to answer you and do the work, I don't sell anything to anyone, and client site access is treated with care.

Information you send me

When you contact me through Upwork, I receive whatever you include: typically your name, email address, website URL, and a description of your problem. I use it to reply and, if we work together, to deliver the service. It's never sold, rented, or shared for marketing.

Information you give me through a form

The site's pages don't carry forms, but one landing page used for ads, the Edmonton WordPress page, has two: a free website review and a checklist download. They ask for your business email, a website URL (required for the review), and optionally your first name, the main problem and the platform your site runs on. The form also sends which form you used, the page you were on, the campaign tags and referring page you arrived with, the time you landed, and your two consent choices.

A Cloudflare Worker receives the form. It drops any field not on that list, rejects submissions that fill a hidden anti-spam field, and counts submissions from your IP address for one hour to stop floods of spam; that counter then expires on its own. The Worker hands the details to Resend, an email delivery service, which sends them to my own mailbox, hosted by Hostinger. If you've asked for the checklist, Resend also emails it to the address you've given.

The first consent box is required, because I can't send what you asked for without it. The second is optional and starts unticked: only if you tick it will I send occasional WordPress and SEO notes, and you can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any of them. Your details are never sold or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Client site access

Engagements usually involve access to your WordPress admin and Google Search Console. That access is used only for the agreed work. Credentials are stored securely and they're never shared with third parties, and you're encouraged to revoke them when the project ends. Where possible I'll ask for a separate user account instead of your own login.

Information collected automatically

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits. The script loads after the page does, on your first scroll, tap or key press, or once your browser is idle. It sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you view, roughly where you are in the world, the type of device and browser you're on, and how you arrived, such as from a search engine or another site. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before the data reaches the reports, and I can't see your name, your email address, or anything that identifies you personally. I use it for one thing: working out which pages are worth keeping and which ones nobody reads.

Basic server logs (IP address, pages requested, user agent) may also be kept by the hosting provider, Cloudflare, for security and performance.

The landing page is built so it can carry a Meta (Facebook) pixel for measuring ads. It isn't switched on. If that changes, this policy will name it first.

You're free to opt out entirely. Google's own browser add-on blocks it across every site that uses it, and most browsers will do the same if you block third-party cookies or turn on a tracking-protection setting.

Third-party services

• Cloudflare hosts and serves this website, and runs the Worker that receives the landing page form.
• Google Analytics 4 counts visits and sets cookies, as described above.
• Resend delivers the form emails described above.
• Hostinger hosts the mailbox those emails arrive in.
• Fonts: the typefaces are served from this site, so your browser doesn't contact Google for them. The one exception today is the Edmonton landing page, which still loads its fonts from Google Fonts.
• Google Maps draws the boundary map on each Alberta location page; loading it contacts Google's servers.
• Upwork handles its own data under its own privacy policy when you contact me there.

How long I keep things

Messages, form emails and project files are kept for as long as they're useful for the engagement and reasonable follow-up support, then deleted. The form's spam counter expires after an hour. You can ask me to delete your correspondence and data at any time.

Your rights

Wherever you live, the deal is the same: you're free to ask what I hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for corrections, or ask for deletion. Book a call on Upwork and I'll handle it within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes won't be buried; they'll be noted plainly.
